Crossed the finished line with my NaNoWriMo project a couple days early. Congratulations to everyone who participated in the NaNoWriMo 2023!
It is possible I am crazy. I’m not a NaNoWriMo person. I’ve tried a couple of times to spend November, one of the busiest months in my world, writing a 50,000 word novel. It never works. That’s why I started participating in Picture Book Idea Month, now known as STORYSTORM. Way easier to come up with 30 picture book ideas than write 50,000 words. Yet, I decided out of the blue on Sunday that 2023 would be a NaNoWriMo year. I created a book cover and pinterest board to inspire me. The idea is coming together. Maybe I’ll burn out in a week. Who knows? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Here’s to NaNoWriMo and all the writers out there willing to plunge right in!
The virtual book tour for A Christmas Kindness starts Monday, November 1. Here is more about the book:
Eight-year-old Robert is eager to share his wish list with Santa at the mall on Christmas Eve. When he meets Glenn, who only has one request for Santa, Robert is confused about what he should do. Can he cast aside what he wants and ask Santa to bring his new friend a special gift?
It is not often that a simple children’s book can nearly bring me to tears, but this one succeeded. There is nothing better than reading a story at Christmastime that reminds you that there are still good people and good kids in the world. This is one heartwarming Christmas story that you and your kids can read and enjoy. It will remind you of the true meaning of Christmas, and I believe that the author’s purpose is accomplished.

Robert can’t wait to see Santa. He’s got a pile of stuff he wants to ask for. Then he meets Glenn in line, and Robert himself gets to play Santa. I was touched by the main character’s transformation after he came in contact with someone in real need. The glow he walks away with can’t be bought, and he’ll never find it under the Christmas tree, but it’s the heart of the season that he’s found. Nicely illustrated, enjoyable story for readers of all ages.

Vijayan and Vandana Sudheesh, who were both interviewed on the May show. You can check out that interview if you want to know more about them.
We will be talking about my experiences as an author whose publisher has gone out of business, which also happened to Barbara and several other authors recently. You might find some surprise guests or other unexpected happenings.
